Our Training Mission
“Train Your Dog The Positive Way”
Here at Pet and Home Care, we feel very strongly that a successful relationship is created between canine and human by building trust, respect and understanding. We believe in and use positive and empathetic training methods that enhance the communication between handler and dog.
We do not use or tolerate inhumane punishment-based methods, as we feel that this type of punishment breaks down the relationship between dog and handler and in itself, escalates mistrust, fear and aggression.
Professional Dog Tranier Nichole Petrie
Nichole Petrie grew up in Sothern California surrounded by dogs her whole life. She trained her first dog at the age of 5. A pure bred Chow Chow who I named Shera. From a young age, Nichole’s parents have always encouraged her to work with animals. They were a large part of her influence and decision to go into the Animal Industry as an advocate, supporter, Dog Trainer and Pet Nutritionist.
Nichole is an award winning professional dog trainer for almost 20 years.
Her passion for guiding pet parents to learn leadership roles and to better communicate with their dogs is what drives her. She is committed to helping your pack grow into harmony with love, trust and respect.
Nichole is ABCDT Certified and a Certified Pet Nutritionist working to complete a second Pet Nutrition Certification course by Dr. Ian Billinghusrt .

Our
Safety Procedures

- Have proof of up-to-date shots and vaccinations – including CIV vaccine, Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. Please bring your paperwork from your veterinarian to the first introduction class.
- NO DOGS are allowed in the first Introduction class.
- Bring your completed Registration form to the Introduction class.
- Do NOT feed your dog before class. Your dog should be HUNGRY (Working for a treat reward).
- We have healthy, natural, dog training teats available for purchase in our store.
- Wear closed-toe athletic shoes and comfortable clothing you can move around in. No Crocs, sandals, flip flops, or any shoes with large open holes.
- Bring your dog to and from class on a 4 to 6 foot leash. Dogs MUST be on leash at all times.
- Classes are one hour.
- If you would like to schedule Private at home training sessions in between classes with the trainer, that can be arranged.
- Classes are held at The Green K9 Urbana.

- Nylon buckle, snap collar head collar or front harness. We will discuss proper tools during the 2nd class.
- Nylon leash 6 feet long, suitable for the size of your dog. (No flexi, retractable leashes or chains allowed).
- All dogs should have identification. Micro-chipping, tattooing, or a simple to read ID tag stating the owner’s name and phone number should be attached to each dogs collar.
- Children attending or watching the class must be supervised by another adult who is NOT participating in the class.
