Beware of Poisonous Springtime Plants!

Spring is officially here! While its nice to enjoy the fresh air and blooming flowers, it’s important to keep in mind that some plants and fertilizers can be toxic to your pet.

Review our springtime safety tips so your pet can roam hazard-free around the yard!

  • Flowers with bulbs such as daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths can be dangerous to dogs, especially the skin toward the bottom of the bulb when ingested. Try not to let your dog dig up the garden to prevent vomiting and diarrhea.
  • The unsuspecting yard mushroom can be very toxic to dogs, so its recommended to remove any mushrooms spotted growing in your yard.
  • Be wary of lily flowers including tiger, day, Easter, stargazer, red, and wood lilies, which are highly toxic to cats. Lily pollen, leaves, stems, and even water from the vase can cause severe kidney damage to kitties.
